The couple behind Northolt’s popular Halloween haunted house are holding a summer party to further raise money for charity.
Lisa and Jason Cole will be holding the outdoor event on 10 August 2024 from 1pm at Kempton Avenue in Northolt.
Proceeds will be going to Meadow House Hospice in Ealing in honour of Mr Cole’s mother who passed away in July 2023 after fighting cancer for six years.
EALING.NEWS spoke to Lisa to find out more about it.
When did you first start doing summer events and how many have occurred?
Our events began when we first went into lockdown, to help prevent people going stir-crazy, by being indoors!
With then having 7 children at home, it was hard to keep them occupied and entertained! Jason put on shows out of the front of our home, entertaining them with the Elvis songs that we all know and love and where everyone could then social distance.
We then did one for the Queens Jubilee and the King’s Coronation, whilst flying the Union Jack flags. It soon became apparent, due to my late mother in laws illness, that we can use our skills and facilities, by raising money for Meadow House Hospice, who was giving Mal palative care, and giving back what she was receiving.
Since then, each one gets bigger and better, with more ideas on bringing the community together and raising funds for a well deserved cause.
We are a very large family, having 14 children in total! (8 at home) and 9 grandchildren. We don’t think there is enough in the area for children. So putting on a summer party for them, gives families something to look forward too.
How long does it take you to put it all together?
In our heads, we already have ideas, for the next event, before the present one has even taken place! So we are currently planning halloween, as well as preparing for the Summer Party.
So it’s months of planning, weeks of building and from 6am on the morning, putting it all out and on!
How many did you have last year attend?
Last year, we had 300 people attend. It was good to see a wide range of ages, from children, to adults of all ages. This year, we are bigger and better, with having fun games like splat the rat, ball in the bucket, and even splat the parent! Along with live music, children’s disco, hotdogs, candyfloss, popcorn, snow cones, candy cart, drinks.. a big 3d bouncy castle, face painting and some stalls.
