LibDems win South-West seat but come fourth in Ealing and Hillingdon

While locally in Ealing and Hillingdon, Liberal Democrats came fourth for constituency member of the London Assembly, neighbouring South-West seat went to Lib Dem Richmond Council leader Gareth Roberts.

Ealing Councillor Bassam Mahfouz was voted in as Ealing and Hillingdon London Assembly Member on the Greater London Authority where he got 72,356 votes beating Conservative candidate Henry Higgins who got 67,495 votes.

Jess Lee standing for The Green Party came third with 22,974 votes.

Kuldev Singh Sehra standing for the Liberal Democrats Party got 15,293 votes and Anthony Goodwin from Reform UK came last with 15,247 votes.

Mr Sehra said: “I am proud to have had the opportunity to listen the residents of Ealing and Hillingdon during this campaign. Our two local Lib Dem teams worked tirelessly to help get our message out to our communities. The Liberal Democrat official opposition councillors in Ealing will continue to work hard for residents, listen to their concerns, and stand up for them.”

Liberal Democrat Leader of the Opposition, Councillor Gary Malcolm, said: “The May elections have seen big increases for the Liberal Democrats across the country and in Ealing. We will continue to fight the divisive Tory government and the wasteful Ealing Council who do not provide an adequate level of services for residents.”
