A one day festival for youth and by youth across Ealing is to take place at Walpole Park on 26 July 2023.
The New Gen Festival sees a day of music, dance and spoken word taking place from noon to 9pm and is aimed at those aged 10 to 25.
The festival is organised by a number of cultural and community organisations across the borough including Bollo Brook Youth Centre, Descendants, DIAXPORA, Elevate Arts, JE Delve, Southall Community Alliance, WAPPY, University of West London and supported by Ealing Council and a grant from Arts Council England’s Heritage Lottery Fund.
The day offers something for everyone with organisers saying: “Have a go at DJing, steelpans, gamelan, and shooting a music video, or discover the science of sound with VR headsets.”
Councillor Polly Knewstub, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for thriving communities said: “New Gen Festival is a unique festival created by and for young people in Ealing, and it’s great to see it return for another year. The council is supporting the festival as part of our promise to invest at least £1m in community and grassroots art, music and dance.”
Councillor Knewstub added: “It’s wonderful to see young people coming together and expressing themselves through music and art, showcasing the incredible talent and potential we have in our borough. We are passionately committed to ensuring everyone has opportunities to flourish and demonstrate their creativity and this festival provides creative opportunities in abundance for Ealing’s young people.”
