Stagecoach Ealing’s dancers make it to Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge regional finals

A team of young people from Stagecoach Ealing’s dance troupe made it to the finals at the regional finals of the Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge.

The young dancers, while not winning, gave all their all with set pieces from Run Boy Run and a Tina Turner Tribute, a creation by their teacher Jess McShane which was performed at the indigo at The O2.

Valerie Weyland, principal of Stagecoach Ealing said: “We are all so proud of our group – Stagecoach Ealing’s talent is outstanding and they all worked so hard and did so well to reach the grand final – their pieces are breathtaking.”

The Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge, now in its ninth year, is one of the leading youth competitions for Glee Clubs in the UK.

Programme director Lee Ellaway said: “Being able to engage schools and groups across London and Essex and work with hundreds of talented young people and their teachers and leaders has been an absolute joy. The programme included workshops with industry professionals, regional finals at some wonderful theatres and it culminated in a star-studded Grand Final at the indigo at The O2. I’d like to personally congratulate every single young performer who took part. The standard was incredibly high.”

Gemma Juma, chief executive officer of the Jack Petchey Foundation added: “The audience was blown away by the talent on display at the Grand Final. The young performers inspired, uplifted and entertained an audience of over 1000 people. Every single performer at the event worked their socks off to perfect their routines and should be proud of their achievements.”
