Help ActOne Cinema in Acton raise funds to get a second screen and help secure its future

With just days left, ActOne Cinema which opened in October 2021 at the former Acton Library is appealing to supporters to help reach its fundraising target of £154,289 by end of the month which will enable a second screen to be installed at the community cinema later this year.

Since launching, thousands of people including young and old have enjoyed a range of films from Hollywood blockbusters through to classics and independent cinema treats.  By adding a second screen, ActOne can further grow and have more variety on offer to the community as well as further securing the future of the cinema.

According to ActOne: “We are planning the construction of a second screen, which will be vital for the long-term survival of ActOne Cinema. A second screen will broaden our community appeal while ensuring our financial viability, and will fulfil our original plan to build a cinema with two screens.”

It added: “We want to provide a best-in-class cinematic experience for our customers, with a wider range of films and events on offer – including but not limited to: exhibiting the work of local filmmakers, more independent films and festivals, and even comedy and music events.

Film reviewer Mark Kemode recently posted on his twitter feed: “I’m a proud supporter of @ActOne_Cinema , which a local community of film lovers built against all the odds. It’s been a great success, but this fabulous community cinema will need a 2nd screen if it’s to stay on the high street. Please give what you can.”

North Acton councillor Dan Crawford said on his twitter feed: “If you’ve got any pennies left after payday, please consider supporting the second screen at the community-run @ActOne_Cinema  on #Acton High Street.”

Organised by Acton Arts Project, the cinema is seeking to raise £154,289. As of 27 August 2022 at 1.30pm it has secured support of £131,807 from 319 backers with £85,000 coming from Acton Business Improvement District (BID).
