General Election 2024: 65,684 Ealing voters choose to vote by post

All Ealing residents who are registered for a postal vote for the General Election taking place on 4 July 2024, should now have received their voting form.

A total of 65,684 voters opted to take part in this election by postal vote out of an electorate of around 225,000 with 23,584 in Ealing Southall, 21,441 in Ealing North and 20,659 in Ealing Central and Acton.

Ealing Central and Acton also includes 1,289 postal voters in neighbouring Hammersmith and Fulham due to changes in the constituency boundaries.

Voters had until 19 June 2024 to register themselves for a postal vote.

The dates when postal voting forms were sent out to residents:

14 June 2024: Overseas voters (743) sent
17 June 2024: Main Ealing voters (60,659) sent
17 June 2024: Main Hammersmith & Fulham voters who are in Ealing Central and Acton Constituency (1,289)
21 June 2024: Later applications received on or near deadline Overseas (199) sent
24 June 2024: Late applications received on or near deadline Main (2794) sent

Ealing Council told EALING.NEWS that if there are any queries or questions about missing postal votes to call 020 8825 7777.

In Ealing, all three constituencies are currently held by Labour – Ealing Central and Acton by Dr Rupa Huq, Ealing North by James Murray and Ealing Southall by Virendra Sharma.

Mr Sharma stood down on 27 May 2024 and Ealing Council deputy leader Deirdre Costigan was chosen as the new Labour candidate to contest Ealing Southall in the General Election.

Dr Huq has held Ealing Central and Action since 2015 and in 2019 she had a 13,300 majority over the Conservatives. James Murray has held Ealing North since 2019 where he had a 12,269 majority over the Conservatives. Virendra Sharma was MP for Ealing Southall since 2007 and in 2019 he had a 16,084 majority over the Conservatives.
